Earlier this year, Chung had a dream run to the semi-final of Australian Open before losing to eventual winner Roger Federer.Tata Open Maharashtra is set to begin in December and the world No.26 Chung will participate in the ATP 250 event to be played at the Mahalunge Balewadi Stadium in Pune.Chung had reached the semi-finals of Australian Open earlier in 2018 becoming the only South Korean player to go beyond the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament.On the way to the semi-final, Chung had shocked the world No.5 Alexander Zverev in Round of 32 and then even more shockingly, he ousted his idol and multiple Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16.At the Tata Open in Maharashtra, Chung is expected to be the top draw and Tournament Director Prashant Sutar was excited about Chung being one of the first players signed for the event.”Chung is one of the most exciting talents in tennis today.
